Top 5 Fantasy Sports Running Backs for 2011
Author:Aldrin
One major change that seems to be spreading throughout offenses in the NFL is the use of running backs. That is why in fantasy sports , running backs are now very important to win. In this article, I offer you the top 5 running back for 2011 that you can use. Read on.
1. Adrian Peterson - Minnesota
Peterson is one of the most explosive backs in the NFL and can score from anywhere on the field. He did have an off season scoring but look for those numbers to improve in 2011. In previous years a big concern about AP was his tendency to fumble but that disappeared last year with only one fumble lost all season. Minnesota\'s new coach is dedicated to the run and you can expect Peterson to have at least 25 carries a game next season. The only concern here is that Peterson can be injury prone especially as the season drags on.
2. Chris Johnson - Tennessee
Chris Johnson is another guy that can rack up fantasy points from all over the field. He is a dangerous runner who is the focal point of his team\'s offense. He is also a threat out of the backfield with the ability to catch balls in the flat and break them open for huge gains. If you are in a PPR league you may consider taking Johnson over Peterson because he will generate you a lot of points from the amount of looks he gets in swing routes.
3. Jamaal Charles - Kansas City
Jamaal Charles came close to the rushing title last season and that\'s saying a lot because he was essentially splitting time with Thomas Jones. With Jones starting to get up there in age, look for this to shift a lot more into Charles\'s favor this season. What hurt his stats last season was the lack of touchdowns (8) but that number should increase significantly next season especially with the increase in touches.
4. Arian Foster - Huston
After his 231 yard 3 touchdown performance against the Colts week on last year everyone that drafted him thought they were fantasy geniuses, but after a while Foster rocketed back to earth. While a very solid back who can put up huge fantasy numbers he can have some problems with consistency which is a fantasy team killer. His 15 yard performance in week 15 killed fantasy playoff teams everywhere. We aren\'t saying stay away from Foster just be warned that he is occasionally going to drive you crazy with an abysmal fantasy performance.
5. Michael Turner - Atlanta
The Falcons run a very balanced offense and Turner is the key to their ability to do that. Though there are a few quality backs behind him he gets the majority of the touches and rarely dips below 20 a game. The Falcons don\'t run to many routes for him out the backfield so he doesn\'t have much PPR value but he is consistent and that\'s a big plus in the fantasy sports world. Look for a slight improvement in Turners yards this season but he is probably going to stay around a respectable 12 touchdowns.
